POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING PROCESS
As well as celebrating positive behaviour for learning, we strive to support students who need help maintaining learning behaviours.
Consistency is essential. The same process to support focused learning, is used in every class throughout the school and in the playground.
If students require reminders to remain on task, a verbal reminder is given. If this does not improve the behaviour, the student spends a few minutes seated a short distance from the group. If the behaviour still continues, the student spends ten minutes reflection time in a buddy classroom and will receive coaching support at lunchtime.
Coaching provides students with strategies for staying on task and assists them to implement these strategies to increase their focus upon learning.
Communication with families is at the heart of our positive behaviour process. Families of students referred to Coaching will receive a phone call/email to inform them of the behaviour/situation that led to coaching.
Swearing, unprovoked/unnecessary physical contact with intent will result in IMMEDIATE REMOVAL FROM CLASSROOM or PLAYGROUND by a member of the school leadership team.
Should there be ongoing issues, we work with parents and carers to assist students needing support.
