Assessment- Finding Out About Our Learners
The fundamental purpose of assessment is to facilitate learning for all students.
At St Joseph's our teaching staff create assessment tasks which provide opportunities for every student to demonstrate
what they know, understand and can do.
This information provides evidence to guide the next steps in teaching and learning for each child. Each student's progress in literacy and numeracy is systematically tracked and recorded to ensure that progress is sustained.

- Assessment takes place in a variety of ways from paper and pencil tests to digital presentations.
- Assessment provides information which is shared with each child’s parents or guardians through formal and informal reporting.
- Progress Reports for each child are sent home twice per year, towards the end of terms two and four.
- There is time set aside immediately following the Mid-Year Report for parents to discuss their child/ren’s progress.
- Parents and carers are also welcome to make an appointment at any time to meet with their child’s teacher, to discuss their child's progress.
